Well summer is officially here according to Jessica, because big sister Kirsty is here. People have been saying to Jessica 'oh not long until Kirsty comes', to which she would reply with, 'she is coming in the Summer'. So when we went off to the main land to pick her up we were effectively bringing back the start of summer with us. I am loving the idea of this becoming a tradition to mark the holidays. But yes whether we will actually see much of the girl is a whole different story, three jobs!! Oh but Jessica is just so excited to have HER big sister here, if I could of bottled the squeal of excitement she gave when she first saw Kirsty step of the train I would have.
So we took a I couple of days on the mainland, which I desperately needed. Just to be away from well everything and focus on the family and how best to have fun each day. Although we did discover Amelia is NOT impressed by the car at all, so maybe not as relaxing as it should of been. However we managed an Indian, a farm park with a giant indoor soft play, including a death slide, ooh yeah! Costa for breakfast four days running, so that it got to the point Jessica was actually asking us not to go back there... Supermarkets, shops, evening strolls and trees! To be honest it has just made me all the more excited to be going away at the end of the month to see family. I am trying not to count down the days.
Hmm what else, each day is near enough a beach day and I even managed my first kayak of the year with Jessica joining me. We have a large kayak with a glass bottom that Jessica loves to sit in as we paddle around the bay. She was so excited, pointing at a buoy I would have to paddle to so that she could tap it, then onto the next, singing and splashing as we went. A snippet of what living on an island really means.
I'm currently knitting a pink cardigan with wool I found while we were away, sewing boxes for Amelia's cupboard, waiting impatiently for books I ordered to arrive, eating non stop salads from the garden and am obsessed with frozen banana ice cream. I have found a new love in Instagram, being able to share those snap shot moments and I love being able to see and share the beauty and love of other peoples lives.
Jessica is constantly muddy or sandy or both, but always talking and coming away with the best one liners; 'I think that's enough air in the car now. You can close the window'?!! Amelia has three and a half teeth, still smiles at everything (except the car), and her new favourite thing is to shake her head no. Will is spending his days on our roof helping with it now being properly fixed after the winter damage, which meant we managed to climb up on top of the house to watch the summer solstice sunset, so amazing and so beautiful.
That is the jist of it all. Life is skipping along here with this year passing way to fast. But I am happy to report that tiredness levels are only at moderate...x
