I am writing this on a high after making this smoothie for breakfast (I missed out the lucuma powder, and only had one very large banana) but oh I can not tell you how amazing it was!! Even Will was in awe. With the beautiful sunny, fresh mornings we are waking to now, I can't help but crave something fresh to start the day, and have been working my way through the juice recipes on the same website. I mean come on, strolling through the dewy garden, birds singing, a jar (because all juices should be drunk from Mason jars?!) in hand filled with awesome juicy, juiciness of spinach picked fresh from the garden, why wouldn't you?!! Ok I did say I was writing this on a high..but I love the idea of eating lots of raw food and keeping things to their most natural states. I am one of those people who believe salads are a meal all on their own. After falling in love with cacoa powder after one use I am the impatient puppy waiting now for the coconut oil to arrive so I can try making my own chocolate. And even more excitingly I have someone to share this excitement with. Not knowingly my friend Nat and I have been exploring the same way of eating and she turned up to our house with a raw carrot cake, yes please. Nat is an amazing baker, especially since she is restricted to gluten free. She even made our wedding cake, you can check out some of her creations here. So I am very willing to act as her guinea pig to this new venture of baking.
Sadly I am not hardcore enough to eat solely like that there are too many exciting other foods out there that I want to try. Like these bad boys. You can't buy buttermilk on the Scilly's so I was over the moon when a friend ordered some for me. They are far too more-ish, I honestly could eat them all in one sitting, the feeling sick afterwards would be so worth it.
My organisational skills have been at their peak; batch cooking Amelia meals, labeled and dated into the freezer, I scared myself with that one. A meal list on the fridge, pick a meal any meal and we have all the ingredients, with a lot of Jamie 30 minute recipes, step over Mr Hugh (Fearnley-Whittingstall). Oh and our favourite snack in this house at the moment is popcorn with some toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds sprinkled with salt and cinnamon. To be honest toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds should be added to all meals. Oh especially the peanut butter granola I made with crazy amounts of nuts and seeds and a touch of grated chocolate...this recipe will never be made again, it barely lasted a week, my hand was in the jar every time I walked past...
Ok there has been way too much sharing of links here, you probably have tab, after tab of weird pages now, which I am not going to apologise for because I am on a food frenzy at the moment and I just have to share. Right, now to go and try and not think about what to have for breakfast, mmmm...x
