I had originally sot out my sewing book to look for a pattern to make some cute baby booties. While tracing the pattern Jessica found the pattern for a doll, immediately decided it was a gingerbread man and wanted to do what mummy was doing. This all seemed a very good idea as daddy wanted to go strimming outside, which is always best done without his Jessica shaped shadow. Of course Jessica really only managed to draw the eyes and I had to help her with the rest, but oh how exciting she got when she found out there was a nappy to be made for the man. I am always working away at something, so it was so nice for Jessica to be able to see something come together start to finish for a change. She helped trace, she rushed off excitedly to get the velcro when I said it was needed (though not quite knowing what she was looking for), she sat on my knee and diligently pressed to buttons on the sewing machine and helped stuff him with what she calls snow. I love snow, like really love snow and so for the days I really miss it we get out the bag of toy stuffing through it in the air and shout 'snow!'...
And now I can happily report gingerbread man/baby with a nappy who Jessica named Teddy?!!! is snuggled up in bed next to her. I've given up trying to explain naming things to Jessica, a teddy will be called Teddy, rabbit-Rabbit, baby-Baby, whereas my phone is Orlando the 3rd, my wedding dress Antonia the 5th, my last laptop Julian Jack Ergo, my ipad Crawford Campbell, it's because I don't have a car to name I know that...x
